I have been banging on about Elevation Masks for the past 5 years and I am glad that finally people are realising the amazing weight loss and fat burning benefits of training with an elevation mask.
When it comes to elevation masks and the debate about the benefits of training with a mask and training at elevation (2500m above sea level), there is no contest, training at elevation will always win hands down, but as it goes, most of us don't live with a mountain range in our back yard, so mask it is.
So why are they so effective and how do they work? The answer to this is very scientific and I don't understand it completely so I am going to try and simplify it so that even I can understand it.
Now, before I continue, let me just cover the energy sources. Blood sugar (primary energy source) or 1gram thereof will deliver 38 ATP molecules or 38 little batteries of energy if you will. However, 1gram of FAT (secondary energy source) delivers a whopping 200 ATP molecules or 200 little batteries of energy so as you can see, FAT is a much richer source of energy than blood sugar a.k.a Glucose.
When we exercise, our bodies use oxygen and blood sugar (Glucose) to fuel our workout. Also known as Aerobic (Oxygen) exercise. This is all good and well, but if you want to burn FAT, you need to make your workout Anaerobic (Oxygen, not so much). Anaerobic threshold is defined when we burn Oxygen faster than we can breath it and enter the Elevation Mask.
When our workout is Anaerobic, our bodies go "HOLY CRAP" this sucks! Our bodies realise that blood sugar just isn't cutting it so it switches over to burning fat instead. Now that's what I am talking about! What the Elevation mask does, is simulates training at altitude and turns every workout into an Anaerobic workout, in other words every time you train with the mask, your body goes into the "HOLY CRAP" mode and switches from burning sugar to melting fat and that is why the mask is such a great training tool.
Don't get me wrong, at first, training with the mask sucks, but very quickly your body adapts and you then start enjoy training with the mask. The fact that the mask delivers amazing weight loss and fat reduction results makes the first few unpleasant sessions well worth it. The fact that training with an Elevation Mask also increases the post training Endorphin kick, improves your Bronchial and Diaphragm strength, increases your performance and training intensity and makes you look like a Bad-Ass is simply an added bonus and even more of a reason to train with it.
